Time to Think About Summer Reading !!
As we prepare for summer vacation it's important to think about reading over the summer. Each year for the last 20, Newfield School has offered a "lending library" of extra books to read over the summer. There's no charge, no obligation...just enjoy reading! Flyers have been sent home, but here's one to print if you missed it: SummerreadingFlyer.pdf
The other activity we promote is the Summer Reading Club at the Ferguson Library. This year's theme is "Catch the Reading Bug." Children can enjoy visiting the library, compiling a Reading Record of all the books they've read over the summer (including those borrowed from Newfield) and receive prizes along the way. It's loads of fun. Our graduating 5th graders can join the Teen Reading Club for the first time if they wish to, that includes fabulous chances to win great raffle prizes. Our friends from Ferguson will be visiting Newfield in early June to make a presentation about this year's Summer Reading Club.
So curl up under a shady tree, sit down under your beach umbrella, get some audiobooks for your vacation trips, and READ, READ, READ!
